Marcona Almond

marcona almondsThe "Queen of Almonds", as the Marcona has become to be known, is a smooth, sweet-fleshed almond variety with a gentle, buttery crunch.

Softer than the typical California almond, the delicate Marcona almond can be substituted whenever a need arises for almonds, cashews, macadamias or any other nut for that matter.

While the beautiful, clean flavor and gentle texture of Marcona almonds is best observed when eaten on its own, it is often used in some dishes. It, like other nuts, is often used for baking and sweets.

Marcona almonds are used in marzipan, nougats, and macaroons, as well as other desserts. Marcona almonds are used by Spanish chefs to prepare a dessert called turrón.
